In light of the current events in the last few days regarding the death of Osama Bin Laden, I felt that this quote by Martin Luther King, Jr. was appropriate. I will be honest and admit that I felt very uncomfortable watching people celebrate in the streets of America. I know some may have a differing opinion, but that’s how I felt. This quote sums up my feelings and I feel it is conveys a very important message.
“I mourn the loss of thousands of precious lives, but I will not rejoice in the death of one, not even an enemy. Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that” – Martin Luther King, Jr.
