When I first started my newborn photography career in Hawaii I always thought that my work would be limited to the island of Oahu, because that’s where I am based and let’s be honest—flying between the islands is not cheap. Fast-forward 3.5 years down the road into my newborn photography journey and to my delight, I had my very first off-island newborn session on the beautiful island of Hawaii aka the Big Island 🙂 I am blessed and fortunate that this opportunity came my way and that my wonderful friend Mari believed in my work and me. Thank you, thank you, thank you Mari and Thomas for your unconditional love, support and belief in my skills 🙂 It means the world to me that you would fly me over to photograph the newest member of your family 🙂
To be honest, I was an incredible ball of nerves as I prepped and planned for this off-island newborn session. In my total OCD manner, I created checklists, I brainstormed and I went over my plan multiple times in my head. I scrapped plans and re-created up until the night before I left. I had to figure out how to pack all of my equipment safely and soundly so that it got to the Big Island in one piece. To make matters worse I had just watched a documentary on TV regarding how poorly airline employees handle luggage. Aaaaaah the stress and nervousness of doing something for the first time 🙂 In the end things didn’t necessarily go as planned (in regards to packing and my equipment) BUT it all turned out wonderfully. The session was a HUGE success!!! My heart is happy and I am feeling pretty accomplished 🙂
Without further adieu—Hello world!!! Please meet Carson!!! He was a champion sleeper and poser J He didn’t mind me working with him one bit. His mama filled him up with lots of yummy milk and he just snoozed while I posed him 🙂 He and I worked together and it was magical 🙂 Check out those beautiful, dark eyelashes!!! He is going to be such a handsome little guy!!! Oh and those lips…soooooo adorable 🙂 I LOVE the family images we captured as well…so very precious 🙂
Thank you to Mari, Thomas and Aunty Sue for a wonderful time over on the Big Island. I so enjoyed my time with all of you and I LOVED working with your precious bundle of joy. I cannot wait to watch him grow up, but even more so I cannot wait to see him again so I can cuddle and snuggle him!!! Take care and may you all have a blessed year!!! XOXO!!!
